Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who qualifies as a caregiver?

A caregiver aids someone in need due to age, illness, disability, or other conditions. Caregivers may help with daily tasks, emotional support, or medical needs.

  • Do these supports cost money?

Caregiver support services are available free of charge.

  • How do I know when to get help?

It is better to seek information and support early on to prevent caregiver burnout. Being prepared for your loved one's changing needs can help ease transitions.

  • Can I receive support if the person I was caring for has died and I am struggling with grief and loss in the aftermath?

Yes. When caring for someone, especially for a long time, life may seem empty when they are gone.  You are not alone. Connect with a local provider offering grief and bereavement supports.
