About Community Support Services

Community Support Services support older adults, seniors and adults with disabilities. Our goal is to support individuals to remain safe, independent and healthy home. Community Support services are funded by Ontario Health East. These services play a vital role our health care system. 

Community Support Services can assist older adults, seniors and adults with disabilities who:

  • Have difficulty managing self-care activities
  • Aren’t able to shop or prepare healthy meals
  • Can’t keep up with basic housekeeping or home maintenance
  • Are lonely or isolated
  • Need mental stimulation or physical activity
  • Have Alzheimer’s, dementia, or an acquired brain injury

Community Support Services can help caregivers who need:

  • Support to cope with responsibilities
  • Support to maintain their resilience 
  • Caregiver education
  • Help to manage daily tasks
  • Support to avoid caregiver burnout

    AccessCSS makes it easier to find community based support services and programs in Eastern Ontario.


    AccessCSS is a collection of Community Support Services providers. We have created a search tool to help you find relevant services in your area. AccessCSS helps older adults, seniors, adults with disabilities, and their loved ones connect to the care and support they need.

  • Why are Community Support Services important?

    Community Support Services help individuals remain safe at home by: 

    • Enabling Everyday Activities
    • Providing support during difficult times
    • Enabling choice and independence 

    Community Support Services also play a vital role in Ontario’s health Care system by:

    • Alleviating pressure on other parts of the healthcare system by providing alternative levels of care
    • Providing preventative care
    • Keeping Ontarians safe and well at home and out of hospital or long term care for longer. 

  • How much do services cost?

    Our non-profit services are funded by Ontario Health. Many Community Support Services are available free of charge. In other cases the funding does not cover all the costs of providing a service and there may be a cost for service. We make every effort to keep fees affordable to ensure cost is not a barrier to service. 

  • Who can use AccessCSS to find services?

    Anyone living in the following regions:

    • Champlain
    • South East 
    • Central East (coming soon)

  • Can I apply for a family member or loved one?

    Yes! You can request service for someone else, but they must be aware of the request and agree to let you send it.

  • Do I need a physician or healthcare provider to refer me?

    No, you can refer yourself to AccessCSS services or ask your doctor for help. You can also request the help of one of our trusted navigators to connect you to the right services.
